We are going to have many developers, each of them with individual coding style! For this reason we have to discuss coding conventions and/or talk about source code formatters. You may think that is an unimportant thread but I think its fundamental for our project and necessary for an
effective teamwork.
Think about it!

Eclipse 3.0 has a very considerable built-in code formatter. There is no need for an extra plugin if
everybody is using the same settings.
Anyway, whats the benefit using such a tool?

Yep! Eclipse 3.0 has a built-in code formatter but there is no posibility to 'force' the developers using the same settings instead of their individual ones.
Code has to be formatted in a central instance (someone is responsable ;-).
Therfore I think we should/have to use such a tool.

Well, I recognized what you are talking about! After visiting jalopy homepage i think its a powerful plugin with plenty of options (over 300 distinct configuration options!!!!). We should evaluate it!

Keep it up! I am going to look for other formatting tools. I think it makes no sense to use the first tool that comes along ;-)
Is anybody knowing about formatting plugins?

The plugin is not for free! One Single-User license starts at USD $40. Therefore we cant use that plugin in our project.

Hm.., very strange!
I visited http://jalopy.sourceforge.net/ and there you can read that it is released under BSD license.
Also the developer is different?!?
Well, just take the one I found at Sourceforge.net and we wont get a problem ;-)

I just wanted to mention that there is already a thread about source code formatting & jalopy in the quality assurance forum, just to make sure that you possibly look at this thread too.
But I agree with the fact that source code formatting is important and would also say that it should be evaluated.
