Create a bigger display of the current play position and perhaps the mouse position when not playing.
I agree. The red line is sometime a bit hard to locate. Specialy when you have a lot of clipping in the audio (which is dispalyed in red as well). Please find attached a mock-up which allow to see easily where is the current play position located.
