Arg, wrong button, and I cannot edit the original ticket description... So start again:

    1. To backup all my friend's keys, I went through the Network > Keyring > Friend Details > Cut & paste each key into a .rsc file. Of course, I checked the with signature option, to be sure to keep everything.
    2. When I want to re-add my friends from a newly cleaned version, I use Add > You get a certificate file from your friend > browse and selected the first saved file.
    3. Next
    4. And on the last wizard page, I have the Finish button. nothing happens : your only option is to click Cancel instead...

    Also:
+ It works perfectly if you save the keys without signature, in the new format.
+ It does not work if you save in the old format. With or without signature.
+ You don't have the choice about old/new format: the button is not enabled. But if you come from the keyring list of friends, you are forced to use old format. And if you clicked Friends details directly from the network connected friends, you are forced to the new format.

Anyway, THANKS for that great work !

Thank you for this detailed report.

You are trying things which are not supposed to work. It is thus a user interface issue: RS presents keys which can be exported but not imported.

The new format was introduced, because some people removed the IP and SSLID lines from keys of the old format. The new format has a checksum to detect corruption.

To backup your friends, use the key in the new format from Friends details.

Making this more clear is on the TODO list: https://sourceforge.net/p/retroshare/code/HEAD/tree/trunk/TODO.txt#l36
