Hmm, then the debian package should install this r2w.ini and provide a README.Debian on how to build the html documentation. Thus I'm cc'ing the debian bugreport. Thanks for notifying me. If it fails to build, then it is a bug. I always check this before doing official releases, as I use the documentation from the package for the online documentation. Debian is currently tracking subversion, and it looks like the documentation isn't currently buildable from SVN - oops. This will be fixed shortly, my apologies. That means I haven't a clue what the error means. rest2web is certainly not 'intended' to be installed in this way. Recent changes (moving all the modules rest2web depends on into the rest2web directory hierarchy) means that it should be easy enough to get it working though. I'll add creating a rest2web 'egg' to the TODO list. I'm not 100% certain I can do it for the next release, but I'll try. In the meantime, just drop the 'rest2web' directory into your 'site-packages' folder to install it. Package: rest2web-doc Version: 0.5.0~beta~svn-r210-1 Severity: normal Hi, currently the html dir installed by this packages only contains the source rest files of the documentation, but no html. This is a problem for anybody not familiar with rest2web, because there's also no README explaining how to or config file for generating them. I tried to create a minimal config file, but it bails out on the config_file.text at line 47. This might be a separate (upstream) bug but I can't be sure, because I have no idea wether the config I have is correct. Oops - I've just remembered, there is a much better solution. *<* autor *>* The <* ... *> and <$ ... $> templating is done *before* the rest2web is processed. (Sorry for the top-post.) In the version of rest2web in subversion I have defined a very basic macro - lt. This means you can do : *{lt}% autor %>* I can't remember whether this is in the latest release or not. If not, simply add the following to your macros file lt = '<' (Macros are evaluated before the templating engine does its work.) Let me know if this works - I think it should. Unfortunately the reason I created rest2web is that I also have no design skills for HTML templates, and with rest2web I only have to maintain one ! I'm starting to use a stylesheet directory with a restindex of build:no and file:blah, but it gets really tyring to add each file to the restindex. I haven't seen a filemask: xxxx where xxx would allow fnmatch like patterns to match, plus a nofile: xxxx to remove files included by filemask. Does this kind of feature exist? |

Looks like the problem is hard tabs. I'm playing now with the content of template.txt using: <div id="menu"> <# print_details(default_section, subsection_title="") #> <p/> </div> If the print_details doesn't have indentation, everything goes well. If I put a single tab before it, I get: rest2web version 0.5.0 beta1 Running rest2web the Site Builder. I'm putting bits together from the tutorial (attached) and the generation of the index page contains the following HTML code: <div id="menu"> <h3>Pages</h3> <ul><li><a href="somecontent.html">This is the Page Title of somecontent</a><dl class="docutils"> <dt>ription of the page.</dt> <dd>than one line long.</dd> </dl> </li></ul> <h3>Sub Sections</h3> That code is generated from: restindex format: rest page-title: This is the Page Title of somecontent crumb: Short Title page-description: This is a description of the page. It can be more than one line long. /description /restindex I don't understand why the description is cut down. The use of different "tag" names for opening closing sections seems confusing too. What am I doing wrong and how do I get the description generated correctly? |

Yes, which under Windows could be expanded to C:\documentblah blah\user or whatever it is. > Do you just mean (or particularly mean) in the config file ? How > about if paths starting with a tilde were expanded ? os.path.expanduser() only expands the tilde as first character, as any other implementation. Knowing this you can prefix a local file with `./' if it starts with tilde, though right know the other alternative is using full paths, which wouldn't allow tilde expansion anyway. |

It would be good if ~ could be used inside paths through os.path.expanduser(). Right now full paths have to be used. |

If the macros file is not in the same directory as your config file, then you need to provide the full path to it. This will all change in the next release (soon), which puts the macro modules *into* the rest2web package itself, and builds all the standard macros in as well.
