I just checked in a set of changes to start getting ready for this
release:

1. new 'bindist' target automates building a binary package
2. Makefile & crypt.c changes to automatically use Mac OS X's md5
support in libcrypto.  this is ugly, but it's mostly Apple's fault
(they ship mismatched libraries & headers)
3. renamed encrypt and decrypt to avoid name collision with OS X
libraries

I'm sending Matt a matched set of sources, linux/x86 and darwin/ppc
(OS X) binaries.
