I think I have found a bug which may cause this problem.
On line 572 (in V. 1.0r3) you find:
&addToExclude( $_, "$fileName.incl" );
Obviously that it not correct. I think it should be
&addToExclude( $_, "$fileName.excl" );
This bug can have effects only when you use "skip" directives for that archive.
I noticed a similar issue. The directory I backup is about 7 GB, but the tgz file is 64GB!!!
To review what was backed up, I ran:
$ tar tfz file.tgz > file.tgz.log
Sure enough, I found listed *12* copies of EACH file!!!
Why did this happen? I have no idea.
