Hello, all. We were looking for a GUI for freerdp to enable our users to use RDP6 and were delighted to find Remmina. However, we've been stopped right at the starting blocks: it segfaults upon launching. We are running fully patched Debian Squeeze for i386. We rebuilt the freerdp deb files from source deb using freerdp 0.8.2 from Sourceforge. That works perfectly from the command line. We then installed remmina-plugin-data remmina-plugin-rdp remmina remmina-plugin-vnc. This pulled in version 0.8.3-1 for Remmina and 0.8.3-2 for the plugins. We enter the information needed to connect to the Windows 7 system (we have tried many variations on the Remmina RDP settings) and it segfaults when we try to connect. I have taken an strace but nothing jumped out at me as the cause. I noticed that you have released version 0.9.3 so I thought it would be worth trying that before raising an issue. I was able to download the deb files from Wheezy but they depend upon a newer version of libgnutls26 and the newer version of libgnutls depends on multiarch-support. So I only installed what would install, viz., remmina and the data and RDP plugins. That launched without a segfault however the performance was abysmal - as if it was using RDP5 instead of RDP6. To ensure it was not just my connection, I started xfreerdp manually and it was wonderfully fast. So I suppose I have three questions: 1) Is there a fix for the segfault in 0.8.3? 2) Are there Squeeze backports or debs for 0.9.3? That would be much easier than backporting myself if they are available. 3) Why the terrible performance in 0.9.3? I did not see a way to select the RDP version in the UI. Thanks, all - John |
