---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Sean E. Russell <se...@ge...> Date: Fri, 22 Oct 2004 07:08:47 -0400 Subject: Blacklists and the Elektra mailing list To: Avi Alkalay <av...@un...> Avi, would you please forward this to the mailing list? Thanks. The mailing list server that the Elektra list uses is configured to use a blacklist: <reg...@li...>: host mail.sourceforge.net[66.35.250.206] said: 550-"rejected because your SMTP server, 66.109.229.7, is in the Spamcop RBL. 550 See http://www.spamcop.net/bl.shtml for more information." I support attempts to fight spam, but blacklists are an indiscriminant, antisocial overreaction. While my opinion about blacklists may not be important, what this effectively means is that I won't be reading or posting to the mailing list any more. Therefore, if you need to request write access to the repository, or have any questions about the Ruby Elektra binding, you must email me directly. Thanks. What follows is the posting that I was responding to when spamcop decided to blacklist my ISP. I'll try to fix that tonight. |
