In a perfect Linux world, HW and their configurations will be very
close. Hopefully together.
But today the tools that handle HW detection (kudzu@RH, yast@SuSE,
etc) have no "project connection" with these HW configuration tools.
As usual in the open source space, they  are developed by different
people, with different visions, and different ego sizes :)

So I think by now it will be easier to stick and patch exiting
software in a monolitic way, even if we know its not the best think
for an integration project...... :-(
