After trying your patch, i've noticed some further errors.
It's specifically in the unencode function.
I've attached the patch. (apply with patch -p0 < 
/path/to/localkdb-unencode.patch inside elektra/ directory)
The main problem is that it will error if two or more characters that match 
isspace comes after eachother...
