    Not enough information.

Why and how are you changing the pram boot? What do you change the pram boot to?

What disk/partitions do you have and which does rEFIt show?

What part of the boot process is taking so long? Time the following:

    1) Boot the Mac, hold down the option key. How long until the Mac boot menu appears?
    2) Select rEFIt in the Mac boot menu. How long does it take for the rEFIt banner to appear?
    3) rEFIt scans your partitions. How long does it take for the partitions to appear?
    4) Select your partition and boot. How long does it take to finish booting?

    Same problem here:
When I start Mac OS X, i first get the grey apple logo with the spinner and a grey bar filling at the bottom of the screen (As if it was doing a firmware update), this is the part that takes extremely long.. After that the regular mac OS X boot screen appears (so without the grey bar, just the apple logo aand the spinner). And it boots normally...
I'm running mac OS 10.6 on a macbook pro 2,2.

Update: After editing the config file to have a shorter timeout, my boot process is returned to normal: So after selecting Mac OS X from de GUI, I don't get the screen with the gray bar anymore, en boot time is normal again... Not sure why this happened...
