Hi Bruce,
I'm having a problem with a fresh install of an older version (0.97). My company will not allow me to copy and install the latest version so I have to use the only version I have.

I copied the install zip to the machine and unpacked it. When I try to execute runFullEditor.jar I get this Windows message: "Select a program from a list of installed programs." It doesn't know which executable to launch.

But when I execute runFullEditor.jar on my laptop is works just fine.

Can you tell me how to get the app to launch on this other machine?

It sounds like that jar extension is not associated with java.exe program (is java installed ??).

Provided java is installed you can search for java.exe. You can

    • Find java (there should be an option on the windows screen to make java the default program.
    • I will provide a windows bat file (see attached). Put it in the same directory as runFullEditor.jar. This should work if Java.exe is on the path.
    • I will setup a program that will look for java. I will upload the program when written.

    Location of java

If you go to C:\Program Files\Java all the various versions of java will be individual directories.
There should be a directory like*

    • jre1.8.0_191 (java 1.8.0 version 191

under jre1.8.0_191 there is a directory bin, java.exe will be in the bin directory.

I have checked with my IT team on Java. They are limiting the Java version that can be installed to "Java 8 Update 261." Can you let me know whether this version is compatible with RecordEditor and--if so--which version of RecordEditor is compatible with that version of Java?

Not sure, I suspect there could be trouble with sorting. I have tried going through the documentation; will do some testing
