To digitally sign these files is useful for not getting warnings about an unknown publisher and one can be sure that it containes the "real" RecordEditor.
A free software for open source can be obtained via http://www.certum.eu/certum/cert,offer_en_open_source_cs.xml - if you need help for getting the certificate or to sign the files contact me.

Will look at it, depends onm how much work is in it. I have had no experience in adding digital signitures though, so any help would be useful

id you register for the certificate yet? They recently changed the free certificate to only be heavily reduced (now 14 EUR). It's still a reasonable price, you may find someone to sponsor it. The URL is the same as before http://www.certum.eu/certum/cert,offer_en_open_source_cs.xml.
