RecipeRPC, a simple mechanism for delivering recipes in any format to any client, is now available. Using XML-RPC (http://www.xmlrpc.org) as the transport, clients search for and download recipes from servers. Preparations are underway for support by at least two servers supplying a combined 225,000 recipes.

The open-source reference implementation demonstrates the protocol at work in a simple Java applet, and can be tried using any browser at http://reciperpc.sourceforge.net/client.html. Version 0.4 of the spec, also now available at http://reciperpc.sourceforge.net/spec.html, explains how anyone can implement a RecipeRPC client or server.
