Because of the promise of application and driver compatibility.

Bill G said a Windows clone is allowable as long as their
intellectual property is protected. If we step on their intellectual
property then they should tell us how to get around it to clone what
we need to. As a monopoly, the law should give us some leeway. Also
commercial companies will fight these battles before we need to,
companies like Lindows.

Not really. I'm sure we'll be able to keep up - as we get stronger.
