[ros-kernel] is vfat broken again?

After pulling down the latest cvs and doing a build my test system now
hangs. it gets to the point of vfatfs loading and detects the hardrive
speacs but then hangs. After a few retrys it may make it passed this point
only to hang at loading the regitry files.
