I thought I was done with this.  Perhaps I missed something, or subsequent 
changes
altered the behaviour of the caching code.  I am not currently working on 
this.  I seem
to remember that someone else picked up the vfat driver.  Perhaps this 
person will
look into this.  If not, I can take a look.
