I haven't had the opportunity to test rdesktop against Win8/2012 but the latest rdesktop svn source have
support for handshaking the use of SSL which is a subpart of NLA, authentication is done using the old
RDP way but over the TLS channel, im interested in if this works out or not.
There are also a patch published for rdesktop to add NLA support with NTLM this patch does not apply
to current svn but should probably work on 1.7.1 sources, you can find it here:
