Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: X server backing store is assumed when not the case Initial Comment: The source module xwin.c contains the following code fragment ... if (DoesBackingStore(g_screen) != Always) g_ownbackstore = True; The intention being that redsktop will provide its own backing store if the X server won't. However, just because the X server reports that it will "always" do backing-store doesn't mean that it will be available for all applications - backing store might be resource capped. X applications MUST ALWAYS be able to repint their display - they cannot assume that the backing store will eliminate the need for this. I believe that the test is superfluous and that, at the very least, the variable "g_ownbackstore" must always be TRUE - a complete solution requires the removal of all references to the variable. Many thanks for a superb product Regards Martin.Wheatley@Jet.UK ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ilya Konstantinov (ikonst) Date: 2005-10-26 19:41 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=335423 So why isn't this bug marked fixed? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Jay Sorg (jsorg71) Date: 2004-12-14 20:09 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=505855 This is changed in the latest cvs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=381347&aid=1073631&group_id=24366 |
