Hi, I'm using rdesktop v1.7.1 to connect to a windows server 2008 R2 machine hosted in Amazon EC2. I'm interested in running an audio application there and I've already got this working fine using the "-r sound:local" command line option. The problem is that the audio occasionally stutters. I believe my bandwidth to the remote server is ample (I can download from the server faster than what should be required for audio), so I suspect insufficient buffering somewhere. My latency to the remote server is around 20 to 30 ms. Is there a buffer size setting I could change either server side (in RDP config) or client side (in rdesktop) to remedy this? Recompiling the rdesktop client is acceptable if there's a hardcoded constant somewhere. I understand that streaming audio over RDP is grossly inefficient as it appears to stream uncompressed PCM. This is acceptable for the time being so long as I can fix the occasional stuttering issue. Thanks in advance! :) -- Paul Richards @pauldoo |
