Hi John, I have build this project years ago.... http://rcpilot.sourceforge.net/modules/rcap/index.php I have also build 'n "failsafe" module to activate the autopilot in case of signal loss from the transmitter. I use this autopilot on a bait boat, so I don't know if a GPS will get a 3G Fix under water? Maybe it is a good start to test your GPS in a sealed container under the water. Hope this help Regards Francois Robbertze ----- Original Message ----- From: John Schellingerhout To: rcp...@li... I'm John Schellingerhout, a Electrical Engineering student at the University of Zeeland, The Netherlands. I was very interested in your GPSPilot project. We're building a robotic Fish, which will gonna swim into a harbor, for detecting problems. If the connection between transmitter and the build-in receiver disconnects (for example there's a ship comming through the transmitter and receiver), we will build in a GPS system to swim to a certein point. I found via the internet your project. How much is it to buy the complete system? I have some knowledge about program the PIC and write code for that. LIMIT to 50% and then start GAIN > small and increace slowly??? Limit is simply the maximum deflection you will alllow your rudder to have. Gain decides how agressive you want RCAP to keep your boat on course. Very agressive will create constant rudder changes. A lesser value will make more it smoother. As to what is best, too many unknown factors to determin that (your servo setup, your rudder etc.) On a boat, I would not worryr as much, for a plane it is important to start small otherwise too much of a bank and the plane will loose too much altitude and might not recover. As for a figure 8... that's what the planes do as well when they reach the last waypoint etc. It take a decent amount of time running in one direction before courses can be calculated etc. by the GPS. You need to make your way points a far distance from each other to really be able to test out the RCAP. Cheers, Mike |

What is the best way to set up the RCAP.=20 My Rcap is installed in a boat The gps is working, and I can see the flashing led, also the rudder = repond correctly. I suppose my gain setting is to mush, because the boat drives figure 8's = back home... What is the function of the LIMIT and the function of the GAIN and what = is the practical relationship between them. According to the manual, I should begin with small values on both the = limit and gain. What is an easy way to set it up. eg. LIMIT to 50% and then start GAIN = small and increace slowly??? Dear Walter, Thanks for the the advice, I will try it something like this... The Latch can be mechanically adjusted to open only on the "Left" limit. Hello Francois, You might be able to use your bait channel, depending on how you use it. If you were interested in operating it using remote control, then, once the bait is dropped, have it go to autopilot. I don't know whether this is the site for me, but I am searching for a RCAP to assist me to fly an electric R/C aircraft. The main problem for me being that, although a model aviator for 35 years, I have been blind for 20 of those. The desire for anything remotely operated, especially, aeroplanes doesn't diminish however! I can't build my own system, but could afford to purchase a moderately priced complete/working unit. It would have to be ready for flight, once it's installed into one of my aircraft and servos connected. Can anyone out there help please? Thanks for listening.... I will make PICs available on R/C Online Canada within the next 2 weeks. and will re-order some PCBs. They take about 4 weeks to arrive. I will not be offering any kits or finished units however.
