Tomorrow we will present a short informal demonstration of rcml to Dr. Levine in his office at 5 P.M. Having such a large group, I didn't figure it was practical to try to ensure that everyone could be there. Please come if you have time and are willing. Thanks. jdb |

The final release of our project, version 0.60, is on SourceForge where it can be downloaded. We were unable to complete the coding for increment 4, but the class diagram for it is included. jdb |

I hope the testing went well. It's real neat to see this system in operation, and I thank everybody for their work in making it happen. > > As for the demo, I suggest , if the team agrees, we > can prepare a well-documented report that might > identify : > 1. I've prepared a document that details a lot of this and will include it in the final release, which I will probably create this afternoon. I'll cut and paste it into this email; you're welcome to make any suggestions. Good luck on Tuesday's test, everyone. jdb |

hi everybody CONGRATS ! Our RCML does work fine and it meets almost all the specs that we had set out for . I would be running out some random tests on it , tonight . As for the demo, I suggest , if the team agrees, we can prepare a well-documented report that might identify : 1. What RCML is? 2. What RCML does ? 3. Why we call it RCML ? 4. Our specs in the beginning . 5. Our development model (perhaps , its pros & cons). 6. Our increments . 7. Features that can be added as future enhancements . 8. Denouements . 9. etc.. Everybody is requested to let us know if the above is needed ( if , at all ). I feel we can go for it . ~rana --- John Blackstone <jx...@ga...> wrote: > I'm thinking of trying to go demo our project to > Dr. Levine Monday > afternoon. Hi all I haven't finished increment 4 yet since i have been sick since last week. if we need turn in the analysis and design in 3we can do that. also there is some minor change on the design 4 in rational rose. Also, J. David can u turn ur cell on. or phone me. thanks Junior jx...@ga... (John Blackstone) wrote: I'm unsure of the status of increment 4. I cleaned up the increment 3 class diagram earlier this week, and I'll be writing some brief notes to go with it and the pseudocode. I don't think we need much else. Hope everyone had a good holiday. If the increment 4 guys would please let us know the status, we would be best able to decide what all to turn in. Thanks. I've enjoyed working on this project and appreciated everyone's effort. I hope we've all learned a lot, some about XML, RCS, C++, and so on, and hopefully a whole lot about software engineering and project management. I know I have. jdb _______________________________________________ rcml-devel mailing list rcm...@li... http://lists.sourceforge.net/mailman/listinfo/rcml-devel ____________________________________________________________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=1 |

I'm thinking of trying to go demo our project to Dr. Levine Monday afternoon. If you haven't tried out the program, go ahead and do so. You deserve the sense of accomplishment we get from seeing this thing actually work. jdb |

The UTA network is very messed up this morning, so you might find yourself unable to log in at times. Hopefully, this will be resolved this afternoon. jdb |

Increment 3 has been completed and released on SourceForge as version 0.50 . With this increment, you can actually check files into and out of an RCML repository, just like RCS. The download link can be found from the project page at http://sourceforge.net/projects/rcml/ J. David Blackstone |

A whole lot of useful information about CVS can be found at http://cvsbook.red-bean.com/ . jdb |

checkin works 100% now for every case I can think of. If you've got time, grab it from CVS and try it out. Try to break it! Compare the output messages it produces to the same ones RCS produces. For now, a checkin is basically the same as an RCS ci -l. jdb |

A lot of the accessor methods from the increment 2 code don't do what I expect. Any member of a class should have two accessor methods: getMember() and setMember(). getMember() should take no parameters and simply return the member. setMember() should take one parameter and set the member to the value of that parameter. There seem to be some cases where getMember() methods take a parameter. I'm not sure what was intended in these cases, but I am coding additional accessor methods that do what I was expecting. There are also some cases where setMember() methods take something and add it to a member. I'm coding additional accessors in these cases, too. jdb |

This is the details of the bug I fixed in the writeOut() method of Archive.cpp, for anyone who is interested. If you're not interested, don't worry about it. Our previous driver program called readIn() followed by writeOut() on an Archive. This was a nice demonstration of the fact that these methods work. At some point, group II was having problems with a core dump. It turned out Xerces needs a method called XMLPlatformUtils::Initialize() called before it can do anything. Attempts to create a DOM_Document object cause a segmentation fault and core dump if that method has not been called. For our previous driver, readIn() called this initialization method. writeOut() did not. So, the driver worked fine, because the code had been called, but once we were attempting to do code that did a writeOut() without ever doing a readIn(), there was a crash and core dump. I put the initialization call in writeOut(). It might be better to insist that this code must be called in main(); I do not know what will happen now if someone calls readIn() and writeOut() in the same program; that will call the initialization method twice. I'll be checking. jdb |

I finally fixed the bug in Archive.cpp. I just successfully performed our first checkin for two files. Congratulations, everybody. It works perfectly! You should all be very happy. Pat yourself on the back and congratulate yourself. Have a party to celebrate! Take Thursday and Friday off. :) jdb |

There is indeed a problem with Archive.cpp, on line 206 or so. It is the line in writeOut() that says: DOM_Document doc = impl.createDocument(0, ARCHIVE, DOM_DocumentType()); This seems to work some of the time, but not for some Archive objects that are created in the course of the program. jdb |

It now appears that the crash I was experiencing was because of a different way I was doing things. I'm not sure yet if this is going to be a problem later on or not. jdb |

Archive.cpp is crashing on line 206. If anyone has a spare moment and can find out why, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |
