I have been having some trouble with the rips I make having the audio out of sync. It seems to get progressively worse as the movie goes. I realise that it could quite easily not be a problem with quickrip, but thought I'd post and see if anyone else had noticed a problem.
I have used dvd:rip in the past which uses transcode to encode, and wonder if its a problem with mencode?
Anyone have any ideas? or perhaps some way of syncing the audio. I tried using some of the avi tools but have had no luck
You might try ripping with one pass, so that the audio is done at the same time as the video (I've not noticed very much quality degredation doing that).
It will be a problem with mencoder rather than QuickRip... I'm using Gentoo too and I've not experienced the problem, so I'm not sure why you'd get it.

I'll give it a go and let you know how it turns out. I was pretty sure that it was mencoder and nothing to do with quickrip (which incidently kicks ass!) Was more hoping somone else may have some kind of spiffy solution :)

Using:
AMD Athlon 1.2ghz
256mb Ram
Gentoo linux
quickrip 0.7
mplayer 0.90
transcode 0.6.4
