First of all, quickrip seems like a really good and
easy to use program. However, some things could be
improved :p.
Using the latest (stable?) quickrip version 0.8 when I
press scandvd it opens the mplayer gui and doesn't
really do anything until I close mplayer. After that it
starts listing the titles. When mplayer started it gave
me the error "File not found: /DVD title 1". This seems
a bit messy, isn't it easier to not use mplayer at this
point and use libdvdread directly?
Also when I want to start ripping a track it again
opens the mplayer gui (i thought mencoder would be used
at this point, which if I'm correct doesn't open the
mplayer gui :s). Mplayer again gives me an error "File
not found : DVD title /home/progster/1 ". Progster
being my username...
I have no idea what's going wrong, but I must say for
the first time using quickrip it's a dissapointment :(.
I sure hope you can fix this!

Sounds like you have a properly configured mplayer like I
used to. Changing my .mplayer config files so it didn't open
a gui solved the problem. Unfortunately, you now have to
type gmplayer or mplayer -g, I think, to start up the UI (or
just make your own script to pass the graphical option--see
man mplayer).
Furthermore, you could try and configure mplayer so that it
has the correct location of your dvd drive.

mplayer now has the correct location of my dvd drive, and
with mplayer9.0 if you want the gui, you have to place
gui=yes in mplayer.conf. I thought the commandline switch no
longer worked...

Ah, that's a thought. Is there a way to disable the mplayer gui from the cli
(not ever having used the gui)?
We could use libdvdread directly for scanning, if someone on the project
knew how to do that with python; I don't presently, and I don't have the
time to find out, I'm afraid :( I juggle a few other projects, my degree,
some other volunteer committments and a job at the moment so it's
difficult to find time to dedicate to QuickRip... I've been happy with the
block of coding I got in recently though :-)
