They are done manually, except for the headers which are generated. Only the public objects our wrapped, and even then the least used methods often won't be wrapped until someone requests it. We would be interested in having something like SWIG generate the API in the future as is done with ruby and python. --oren On Jun 25, 2007, at 9:58 AM, Alvin Wang wrote: > > Hi, > > Could anyone tell me how QuickFIX creates it JNI wrapper? Hi,
Could anyone tell me how QuickFIX creates it JNI wrapper? QF has a lot of
classes, so I think it would be a huge amount of work to create JNI
manfully.
Thank you!

The current release requires that the FileLogPath be defined in the SESSION section, which is a bug. But if you put it there it should work. --oren On Jun 25, 2007, at 7:00 AM, Naveed Ali wrote: > QuickFIX Documentation: http://www.quickfixengine.org/quickfix/doc/ > html/index.html > QuickFIX Support: http://www.quickfixengine.org/services.html > > > When I used FileLog instead of ScreenLog the application throws error > that "FileLogPath not defined" > Search at Nabble (QuickFix Forum) that it is a bug in current > release.. > is it the case or not.. > > Kindly help.. > > -----Original Message----- > From: Oren Miller [mailto:or...@qu...] > Sent: Friday, June 22, 2007 10:35 PM > To: Naveed Ali > Cc: qui...@li...; quickfix- > Subject: Re: [Quickfix-developers] Hide the Messages from Console > > Don't use the ScreenLog. > > --oren > > On Jun 22, 2007, at 9:46 AM, Naveed Ali wrote: > >> QuickFIX Documentation: http://www.quickfixengine.org/quickfix/doc/ >> html/index.html >> QuickFIX Support: http://www.quickfixengine.org/services.html >> >> Hello All FIXians, >> >> Though I have not received the reply on my previous message but I am >> confident of receiving the reply on this one... >> >> I want to hide/remove the messages that appear on the Console of >> Application when it is opened. >> >> I don't want to show the messages to my client what are outgoing / >> incoming message in the application. >> >> Is there any way to do this...? >> >> With regards >> -Naveed >> >> >> >> >> >> --------------------------------------------------------------------- >> - > >> --- >> This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express >> Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take >> control of your XML. Hi Eranga, Almost sure that Visual C++ runtime DLLs are missing, as I already posted. Along with Visual Studio, there is a package you can use to install them or you can download it from Microsoft web site, Visual Studio 2005 has a new version of the runtime for the SP1, you should know if you have installed it. Download Dependecy Walker to help you find if any other DLL is missing. Hi Eranga, Maybe, what you need to do is the installation of Visual C++ runtime DLLs. If you installed Visual Studio 2005 SP1 recently, make sure you have installed the correct package when you deploy your application, a binary compiled with SP1 depends on a slightly different VC runtime version, its abasence generates this silly error - application configuration is incorrect. Hello All FIXians, Though I have not received the reply on my previous message but I am confident of receiving the reply on this one... I want to hide/remove the messages that appear on the Console of Application when it is opened. I don't want to show the messages to my client what are outgoing / incoming message in the application. Is there any way to do this...? With regards -Naveed |

OrigClOrdID is used when referring to an earlier order. ClOrdID must be unique on every request, even cancel and replace requests. These should have the OrigClOrdID set to the ClOrdID of the order you wish to cancel/replace. Plenty of reading at: http://fixprotocol.org/ -- Caleb Epstein |

Hi, My opinion is that logging is not critical, its purpose is tracking and audit. For me, it is not a really a problem If the engine is not able to log for a short period of time, but the application can still process the received message and sending is working. I just would like to have the information somewhere saying that I lost some logging during this period of time because the database is out (that is why I would like to have an alert mechanism provided by the storage classes). > 2. What will the QF engine response if the other side send message to QF > during the period store down? -> The store is used for retransmission purposes, thus the received messages are not persisted in the store, only the ones that are sent. Thanks Oren, I will check the changes in repository. Hi Benny, Following is my opinion: I don't believe that the logging unavailability should be a reason to reject a message, although this is a problem that I would like to be able to detect and correct it at my side asap. Anyway, some weeks ago when I was debugging a specific application error, I also found that the errors in underlying database are simply hidden from the application, like for example undesired schema modifications, connection failures etc. I thought about an alert mechanism for monitoring, some kind of callback function or an external file to log errors in logging class (MySQLLog e.g.). This way, it would become easier to detect errors and have a recovery mechanism in the application for logging and store. Following was the issue I opened with a feature request. http://www.quickfixengine.org/bugtracker/bug.php?op=show&bugid=255 I figure out that the problem is worse if the Store is down, SendToTarget will return false, although the message might have been sent. But, with no warranty at all, since retransmission won't be possible in this situation. I belive that currently QF has a very optimistic aproach for the problems we're concerned about. You will get this information in the Application::fromAdmin method, optionally you can crack it too and handle the FIX42::logout message, for example. Application::onLogout notification may occur without a logout message, for example in the case of a sudden loss of connection when the counterparty won't have a chance to send a 35=5. Hi, If the sequence number is wrong or there is connection problem, quickfix will logout and I can see in the log that 35=5 type message with more information in freetext field (58). However, onLogout callback does not pass message so I cannot grab the information in field 58 as I did for execution report in onMessage callback (using crack method). Do I miss something in the API? Hi, Currently I am focusing on recovery if some component in the system down. More specificly, if I use MySQL to be the store and log destination for quickfix, what will the quickfix engine response to the messaged received during MySQL is down? I did some experiments and it seems quickfix throws some SQL exception but do not response any reject message. Is there any way in quickfix to response the other side that it is down, or reject to any action taken by the other side? Thanks for any help! That was the first error I made when fumbling with queueing up orders on a
session that is down, quite some while ago, so it *should* not be the
cause, but I will check the version of the binary they are running vs what
is in CVS of our apps to be sure I am not throwing the DoNotSend
exception.

Have your perhaps copied this sample code from the "tradeclient" sample
application? It always discards messages instead of resending them:
void Application::toApp( FIX::Message& message, const FIX::SessionID&
sessionID )
throw( FIX::DoNotSend )
{
try
{
FIX::PossDupFlag possDupFlag;
message.getHeader().getField( possDupFlag );
if ( possDupFlag ) throw FIX::DoNotSend();
}
catch ( FIX::FieldNotFound& ) {}
std::cout << std::endl
<< "OUT: " << message << std::endl;
}
