Apart from logging it into the log file is there any class that allows the application to be notified on events? My scenario is such that an initiator tries to connect to a server... but server is down. It logs 'Connection Failed' in the log file but application then has to constantly pool the log file, to be notified for the event. Is there any easy way to do this? -Naveed |

I believe those dll's ending in "d" (ie msvcr71d.dll) are debug versions that really should never be deployed on a production build - if the dependancy walker is indicating you need these, you probably are not = making release builds, which you should. That being said, you may need to move = the dll's not ending in "d" to a Windows 2003 server to make quickfix run in production depending on what else has already been installed on the = server -----Original Message----- From: qui...@li... Hello All, I am using Security Definition Request to get the securities in the exchange And then based on them I request Market Data Subscription; I am facing an issue that sometimes when I star the application, after login no activity is shown in log, except the heartbeat messages.=20 And sometime without altering the code same application sends the Security Definition Request and Market Data request for all the listed securities. -Naveed |

=20 Hi, =20 I have a requirement where I need to differentiate between the Logoff and the Session Disconnect. =20 But since QuickFix offers only one event, onLogout, for both the things. =20 Is there a way to differentiate if it was a session Logoff or a session disconnect?? =20 Also how can we check the state of all the sessions? Also is it possible to query the state of a single session? =20 I am using C++ version of Quickfix and needs to develop the application using c#. =20 Any help will be appreciated. =20 Thanks, Sachin Gupta |

Hi Haroon, I am not aware of any inbuilt support to add OnBehalfOfCompID, But had such requirement to populate this tag in all my outgoing message (both ADMIN and APP). I modified my toApp() and toAdmin() to set this tag manually. msg.getHeader().setField(MyClass.OnBehalfOfCompID()); Regards, Ananth -----Original Message----- Message: 1 Date: Tue, 26 Jun 2007 09:42:21 -0700 (PDT) From: Aitch <har...@ho...> Subject: [Quickfix-developers] Adding tag/value to header for all outbound messages in session? To: qui...@li... Message-ID: <113...@ta...> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Hi all - I would really appreciate any tips or help on this problem, it doesnt seem too complex but I've tried many things (and searches of these forums) and am at a loss. I want to add a value into the OnBehalfOfCompID tag for hte duration of the entire session, including logon/off messages. I've tried a few things with this such as adding the value for each message sent, or just adding the value in within the toAdmin method, however I'm looking for a more correct solution. It seems straightforward enough for the sender/target compIDs? Hi, I have been testing the QuickFIX engine for around 2v and I found it most useful. Now I have to convince the business people in my organization! It would help to have a list of successful projects using it, in commercial products. The fist question I will get when presenting QuickFIX engine is: if is as good as you say, and it is free, how come others charges so much for it? The organization I am working for is Öhman Fondkommission AB,Sweden (broker house). / Jan Jonsson |

Hi all - I would really appreciate any tips or help on this problem, it doesnt seem too complex but I've tried many things (and searches of these forums) and am at a loss. Can the QF stuff easily be made serializable in java? I'm trying to save my orders to disk and it looks like the QF objects in the orders don't implement serializable. I'm really only after SessionID, OrdStatus, UtcTimeStampField and ExecTransType. Thanks, Andrew |

Hi Joe, I have the same problem because .NET does not have the deterministic destruction of objects. As a workaround I did the following in one of my applications: _storeFactory = null; _logFactory = null; System.GC.Collect(); // force garbage collection Actually, Microsoft solved this problem with C++/CLI. My suggestion is that maybe the QF wrapper could be re-written using CLI. Managed C++ is awful and is already deprecated. http://www.codeproject.com/managedcpp/cppclidtors.asp Djalma On 6/26/07, Joe Asta <JA...@ru...> wrote: > QuickFIX Documentation: > http://www.quickfixengine.org/quickfix/doc/html/index.html > QuickFIX Support: > http://www.quickfixengine.org/services.html > > > > > I am trying to move the files associated with the Log and Store when my > application is complete for the day. > > When I try to move the files, I get an error that the files are still in > use. I believe these files are created in the Session object. Destroying that before you move the files will probably solve the problem. I am trying to move the files associated with the Log and Store when my application is complete for the day. =20 When I try to move the files, I get an error that the files are still in use. I have stopped the SocketInitiator (socketInitiator.stop()) and also disposed of the SocketInitiator object (socketInitiator.Dispose()). I do not see similar dispose methods on FileLogFactory and FileStoreFactory. I tried setting the objects to null, but to no avail. =20 Is there a way to release the handles to these files from C#? |
