Just checking the intel build check box resulted in a bunch of errors. Next time I take a run at it I can either fix the above, or conditionally link it out of my x86 binary. On Nov 6, 2005, at 12:16 PM, Keith Wiley wrote: > Why will glReadPixels be difficult to use if Quesa is just QD3D > which is just OpenGL anyway? Well, first of all I have to quibble with "Quesa is just QD3D which is just OpenGL". If you use the RayShade renderer in Quesa, then it is not using OpenGL. But the built-in renderers do use OpenGL. In order to make sure that the OpenGL context is set correctly, you need to do the glReadPixels in a rendering loop. You could choose to do the glReadPixels at the end of a normal rendering loop, in which case maybe the only trick is to call glFlush before glReadPixels. When I've used glReadPixels, I wanted to just capture what had last been rendered, rather than rendering again. To do that, I had to take steps to keep the image from being cleared at the start of the fake rendering loop, and to keep the buffer from being swapped at the end. > Are you saying the Quesa reimplementation of the equivalent of > glReadPixels hasn't been done yet? I'm not sure what you mean by that. The QD3D API never had an equivalent of glReadPixels. |

I want to grab a continuous series of frames and then later build a quicktime movie from the frames to show a video clip from my program. I'm disappointed I can't find the old program ConvertToMovie anymore, but that's a separate issue. Why will glReadPixels be difficult to use if Quesa is just QD3D which is just OpenGL anyway? Are you saying the Quesa reimplementation of the equivalent of glReadPixels hasn't been done yet? I suppose one way to do it is to render into a gworld, as you said. I would have to rewrite the draw context setup code to use a gworld of my creation instead of a window. I could probably figure that out I at least as fast as glReadPixels. If you have any further thoughts, I would appreciate it. An OpenGL drawing surface isn't exactly part of a window. I don't know how Grab does it. If you'd be satisfied to grab just the OpenGL part rather than the whole window, you could either render to a bitmap, or use glReadPixels. It is possible, though tricky, to use glReadPixels with Quesa. If you'd like to try that, let me know, and I can give some more details. |

How do I grab a screen capture of a rendered window? If I do the fairly straight forward process of copybiting the window's contents into a gworld, the gworld comes up blank (white) even though the window is showing a rendered image. I can manually do a screen capture with various utilities (such as Applications/Grab or cmd- shift-3...I think), but I can't do it from within the program? I'm doing the copybiting outside the rendering phase (after Q3View_EndRendering and Q3View_Sync...or before Q3View_StartRendering, however you prefer to look at it). Does this make any sense? Likewise, when using Applications/Grab, I often get a partially rendered image captured. If I pause my program by halting the rendering loop entirely, then I can use Grab just fine and it never has this problem. Thanks. ________________________________________________________________________ Keith Wiley kw...@cs... http://www.unm.edu/~keithw "Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter." -- Yoda ________________________________________________________________________ |

On the cvs front for those who would like a copy now, I can place the cvs checkout we got yesterday on the microspot ftp server. This could solve the problem until sourceforge get around to fixing it. Cheers Peter. Note: It will be twelve hours until I am in the office to do the upload. What will it take to get this fixed?
Is there a timeframe?

Hi all, I am just starting working on the Quesa with Cocoa problem with Roger. But I am having the same CVS lockout with the anonymous account as Roger had. cvs checkout: failed to create lock directory for `/cvsroot/quesa/ quesa/SDK/Extras/Cocoa Example/Quesa3DView/Quesa3DView.xcodeproj' (/ cvsroot/quesa/quesa/SDK/Extras/Cocoa Example/Quesa3DView/ Quesa3DView.xcodeproj/#cvs.lock): Permission denied I am guessing the reason that it worked for James is he was not using the anonymous login and CVS is not locking him out. We will try with Roger's CVS account later. Cheers Peter. P.S. if any one is going to the MacExpo in London on Saturday, I will be in the Microspot booth all day, so please say hi. Sent again as seemed to have failed first & second time. My apologies if you get this more than once. Checking out the CVS version seems to be broken at the moment. We have tried it on two different machines, in various combinations. I'll tell you I've managed to compile QuesaCocoa and Quesa3DView, I'm not able to convince Quesa3DView to find the framework in the build location so you have to copy it to the Library/Frameworks folder please test also the other builds in case I've break something... I have tried to get the Cocoa stuff to work, but I am just digging a bigger and bigger hole. The problem is I don't know how it is supposed to work, and there are too many variables on what to try. I am giving up until someone who is not a novice at Cocoa can sort it out. There seems to be methods missing, I've tried using the Carbon methods instead but these require a GrafPtr and/or a WindowPtr, and we don't seem to have one in Cocoa. Roger. |
