Well, the first step would be to try the database with it JDBC driver and see what's lacking. There is no sense in writing many of the DatabaseAdapter methods if the JDBC driver supports it (they won't even get called). Then there are things that should be always written if possible, like the getDefaultConnectionParameters and getCreateStatement. Also, the basic recognition by Quantum of a database driver is explained in the Quantum Help, Developer's Cookbook, search for "Supporting a database". That lacks a second chapter about additional support, but the first one can get you started.
