I personally don't use the boost trunk, official releases only.

When boost 1.40 has been released I checked and the QuantLib trunk did
not compile; there was QLXL code triggering error in boost header
files. For me it was the end of the story as I don't want to patch
boost and I'm willing to wait for 1.41, using 1.39 in the meantime

As for Excel 2007 I don't have acces to it as I still use Excel 2002
at work and Excel 2003 at home.
