It would be really nice if the whole HUD is visible... If that is hard to implement or CPU intensive then maybee you could implement a custom HUD? Thank you very much for your awesome work!!

See quake params documentation, because you can specify size (something about horizontal and vertical field of view) of HUD in autoexec.cfg ;)
Use screen size in options menu in prealpha 0.05 to set up smaller HUD.
