let me tell you this way:

when talking about outboard midi equipment, jack-midi is NOT the
solution, nor it will make things anyway better, jitter-wise speaking ;)
in (my) theory it can even make things worse.

ultimately, all jack-midi data must be transcribed to alsa-midi (either
alsa-midi-seq or alsa-midi-raw) and then sent-out to the wire (and
conversely, received-in) via the midi hardware interface in charge.

as in qtractor, jack-midi is in the plan though but, quite frankly it is
NOT the solution for your kill-jitter-quest :)
