The Euro character is supposed to be hex(80) dec(128) in Windows, but shows up as a blob in character sets that allow the Euro. In 64 bit Linux, it just works. Linux 32 bit and the new Raspberry Pi edition show similar problems - you can type a Euro character into the document, you don't appear to be able to convert one.
