I used showFocusIndicator(true) and commented out the lines:
        if (focusedCol != treeCol)
        {
          // ... then start the editor for the cell (if one is defined)
          tree.startEditing();
          return false;
        }
in class/qx/ui/treevirtual/SelectionManager.js and seems to be ok.
