The source makes it look like the timer is supposed to beep each second as it counts down in byo-yomi, but it's not doing so and there is no message on the console.
Other sounds play fine (after changing the buffer allocation in alsa.cpp to the commented out "get buffersize from hardware" lines - before I modified it it kept killing sound after a few underruns)

Yeah, I saw that a while ago, I don't remember what I decided to do about it. Hopefully it will be fixed in a later version.
