Hi!

I played with xawtv and looked at the sources of the
quickcam driver and came to the conclusion that it was
impossible to set the gain (brightness, contrast and so
on) manually per IOCTL request. There is something like
an auto gain algorithm implemented but the pictures
taken with the quickcam are often too dark so that I
would like so set the gain by myself to achieve better
results.

Hi,
I had the same trouble...
I am using "webcam", a small program given with xawtv,
but my image is too bright !
Cannot change brightness / gain / contrast ?
do I need to add an image correction function to the source
of "webcam", or is there a better solution ?

This is implemented in qc-usb driver, use "keepsettings=1"
(possibly with "adaptive=0") with qcset.
