Mayday Mayday Mayday! Hi comunity I am a wind power enthusiast and I need your help! I am trying to test an helix VAWT with a system of variable diameter of the blades. The issue relate to the design, where I have designed an helix of 120° with the optimization tool. Now, try to shift this blades to an wider or smaller radius, it will deform the shape of the blade also. I have recalculate the new portion of arc of circumference in case of passing from 1 meter to 2 meter of radius, and it pass from...

Hi, if you want to access (view, post process) wake data from any timestep after the sim has finished you need to active "Store Replay" in the simulation dialog, otherwise the wake vortex positions wont be stored for every timestep, but just for the final timestep. BR, David

Hi, maybe this is a user error but I have created successfully an LLT Simulation which computed without issues. I can also create cut planes and let them compute for all timestept, but the slider on top of the output window remains inactive. I can move it but its only the last timestep that shows, nothing changes in the output window. Any idea?

Hi Robbie, thanks for reporting this. I did not have such issues with my multi-monitor setup. But it could be that the previous dialog position was saved for one of the monitors that was then disconnected. For the next release we will be using a new graph class - so this could already fix the issue. BR, David

Hi, Whilst using QBlade I have noticed that after using multiple monitors the graph settings do not open when returning to using only one screen. Someone else experienced this in an earlier bug report. The fix of continuing to use multiple monitors worked for me up until now where even when I use multiple monitors, it does not work. Kind regards, Robbie Sent from Mailhttps://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=550986 for Windows

Hi, just a quick response to your three points: Yes we use its for floating turbines. The free wake method is especially useful for such cases where you have a large degree of unsteadyness from turbine / floater movements. The free wake methods are generally valid to calculate the rotor induction. They loose some validity in the far wake, when the wake structure breaks down - but this doesnt necessarily affect the rotor induction itself. So the free wake method is definitely an improvement compared...

Dear David: Hello, I am Tian Yinong, a doctoral candidate from Harbin Engineering University in China. The current research direction is wind turbine aerodynamics.I'd like to ask you some questions. BEM theory is the traditional method to calculate the aerodynamics of wind turbines. I am very interested in the LLFVW method you used.In previous versions, the LLFVW method was used for stationary wind turbines to quickly and efficiently calculate their aerodynamic performance. In the latest version,...

hello friends, am working on a project to analyze the lift and drag force generated by Naca 0012,0015 and 0018 using QBlade, but this QBlade shows a result that naca0018 will generate the most coefficient of lift at equal raynolds number which does not follow suit with other research work.naca0012 suppose to exhibit the highest lift coefficient.can any one help me out.

Hi, wer are currently preparing the new release which will include a complete structural turbine model for time domain simulations. Within this model things like generator/gearbox efficiency can be defined which addresses your point above. Please contact me about your possible contribution! I will be interested to hear what you are proposing. BR, David
