Installed 1.2.1 but having problems connecting to wifi network. This is probably because I've never used kde (tde) network manager. When I choose network I want to connect to it never asks me for password.
So my question is how do I connect to wifi network?

Yeah, I've tried that too. The only problem is that when I enter the 'Shared key' the 'Connect & Save' option becomes unclicable. Any ideas why?

You have entered too short or incorrect password for selected security mode (wpa, wep, ..), please try to check 'expert settings' and tune the security configuration.

I have installed Q4OS on my compaq nc6220. I have problem connecting to my wireless network. I can not see a list of wi-fi networks that are available including my own. The wireless switch on the laptop has been turned off and I am unable to turn it back on!!
Any ideas please??

We will try to assist you to resolve the issue. Please run in terminal:
$ reportq4
attach generated file here.
You could try to manually install firmware and load the kernel driver for your wifi card:
$ sudo apt-get install firmware-ipw2x00
$ sudo modprobe ipw2200

I appreciate your quick response.I did run in terminal $reportq4
the output is: Report is saved in file: "/home/diyako/Documents/qreport.tar.gz"
I also manually installed firmware and loaded the kernel driver as per your instructions. Unfortunately no success!! I did load and run a live CD of another linux distribution(antix) on the laptop. It indicated that the wireless hardware switch is turned off and I couldn't connect to the internet using that linux either. For some reason that switch does not turn on any longer!! However, before installing Q4OS I run the same linux distro and I had no issues with the wireless connection!
Cheers

I just wanted to thank you for all your support and let you know that I have given up on installing Q4OS on this laptop all together. instead I have it installed on a Lenovo G550 and it's working fine.

In reference to my above post I just wanted to inform you that I kept search the internet for resolving the problem of not working wifi.
I fount two viable solutions among many! one was to run this command in the terminal which did not fix the problem in my case: sudo rfkill unblock wifi
The second solution was to boot in to the Bios and put it back to the default setup.(in my case by pressing F10). Surprisingly this method fix my wifi problem and now it's working fine.
Regards,

You can alternatively install and use more advanced Network manager from here: http://www.q4os.org/downloads1.html#q4apps
