Removing "My Computer", "My Network Places", and "Web Browser" icons from the desktop doesn't work/putting icons in the thrash results in the "no access message"
I was only able to remove "My Documents" using the context menu. This method doesn't work for "My Computer", "My Network Places", and "Web Browser" icons though.
Putting some icons in the thrash results in the "no access message". This happened to me while trying to remove this way, for instance, the Chrome icon (installed through the Q4OS installer) or the "My Computer" icon.

If you want to hide all icons from desktop, do:
Right click on the Desktop -> Configure Desktop -> Behavior
uncheck 'Show icons on Desktop'
Remove system icons, "My Documents", "My Computer", "My Network Places", and "Web Browser", this way:
Right click on the Desktop -> Configure Desktop -> Behavior -> Device Icons tab
disable/enable icons you like
Remove system icon, installed through the Q4OS installer, this way:
Edit desktop entry file as root, for ex.:
/opt/trinity/share/apps/kdesktop/Desktop/google-chrome-q4_q4app.desktop
Add line to end: 'NoDisplay=true'
Login again.

Thx, these methods do work! Though it is a bit confusing that when you try to remove a system icon through the context menu the message shows up telling you that the icon has been removed while it is still present on the desktop.
This "no access" thing also could be fixed by your team. The users who are new to Linux may not like such small "kinks".

Okay, now I'm almost sure that the problem is on your side. I've just checked what happens if I remove these icons with the right click menu on another TDE distro (i.e. Exe GNU/Linux -- http://exegnulinux.net/ ). And you know what, no issues at all (in Q4OS the OS tells you the icon has been removed, but in fact it is still there). I really think you should fix this. I know one can remove (as you told me) these icons through "Desktop -> Configure Desktop -> Behavior -> Device Icons", but if you gonna leave such small things unfixed, Q4OS would feel generally unpolished.
The thrash issue is present in Exe GNU/Linux as well. For me it feels natural to throw icons into the bin. We could report this to the Trinity Desktop team. Why not to have a few methods of removing icons, if they all work fine. The OS is for the user--not the other way round.

The issue should be solved in the next major Q4OS release with TDE R14.0.1 version in about three months.
