    Dear Q4os Developers and technicians

    I installed Q4os 1.2.4 next to my Win XP on my ancient but still very functional
    Amilo Fujitsu Siemens Laptop.The Install went very well (all in graphical GUI mode),
    but after rebooting, the Monitor remains black.

    Now I inserted my old live Parted Magic CD (2013) and the Graphic starts only under
    selecting the desktop environment using Xvesa only.

    Monitor Resolution is 1024x768 pixels / OpenGL Renderer 60Hz

    Now my question; Can I solve this issue? Can you tel me how please?
    I wanted to ask you before I uninstall Q4os in unnecessary hurry, maybe there is a solution.
    By the way, Slitaz runs perfect on this laptop, but before I do any steps I would love to give
    your creation a go, because I really like Debian based distros over any other.
    Now on this Monitor issue my skills are not this great and I can not find anything on the
    Internet as of right now, that would help me solve this issue.

    Thank you for your time

    Warm regards

    First of all, we would recommend to install the latest Q4OS release - version 1.4.3, it could easily solve the issue.

    Did you install from 'live CD' or 'install CD' ?

    Try to switch to console 'ctrl+alt+f1' , login and run terminal commands:
    $ sudo service tdm-trinity restart
    $ reportq4
    It will generate a file with debug info, please attach it here or send via e-mail support@q4os.org to analyze.

      1)
      I installed from Install CD. Exactly it was 338MB.
      Also I believe you recently have come out with the live CD option. This version like the other older versions of Q4os are pure install CD only. So I am sure it was Install CD.

      Now something else has come to my attention that I need to share. You know I just checked something on Distrowatch, and following in coming back to the version of Q4os I am describing is 1.2.4 , but I can not find it on Distrowatch, like there is 1.2.2 and 2.0Testing, then 1.2.8.
      On your Website I see 1.2.3 – 1.2.5, and all the newer versions, but no where is the one I have 1.2.4. That is strange.
      I just checked my install CD and I have written clearly 1.2.4 on there. On boot selecting what to run it clearly says : Q4OS Desktop Orion , 1.2.4-n1
      I just wanted to mention this..

      2)
      Question regarding the generating of debug info. If I do this will this debug info contain my
      user and root passwords, that I unknowengly would send you over via the Internet to you?

      Also If I boot to the Q4os partition it is loading showing like 5 lines, then the screen goes blank
      in black color and it does not let me even execute the 'ctrl+alt+f1' no reaction there.
      Even if I start to play the Piano and trying all f keys, you name it, that also does not bother my
      Robust Amilo :) So I end up pulling the plug.

      3)
      It is great to know, that the newest version 1.4.3 as of today would take care of this issue.
      How ever I have experianced in the past that no newer GNULinux Distributions ever did fix
      Monitor issues on my ancient Fijitsu Amilo. I was always forsed to use older versions and honestly that ended up in me never installing anything. Except Slitaz, no other GNULInux Distro is running on this Laptop after the install flawless, except Slitaz is. Just wanted to underline this, before I do any reinstalls, just because it would give me the easiest way out, so to speak. So due to the past experiance I remain sceptical, that
      the new version would fix that issue, unless you are really sure about this and let me know.
      Thank you :)

      4)
      Additional Info, I have just checked.
      There is no AMD radeon on this Laptop. It is Intel celeron. Today I instaled some software and it tells me ;
      CPU Brand Intel(R) Celeron(TM) 1066MHz
      CPU Chip 1 x Pentium II
      So I guess that would make it standard ancient integrated graphics of 32mb.

        ad1) You can download both '350MB Installation CD' as well as '650MB Live CD' from our website http://q4os.org/downloads1.html , both the latest 'Q4OS Orion 1.4.3' version. If you don't see the proper files, please let us know.

        ad2) The debug file contains hardware info, environment info and system log files, no passwords, of course.

        ad3) We cannot guarantee Q4OS will work flawlessly on your hardware, as we are not able to test it. However we recommend you to try the latest Q4OS Live CD, see point 1 above.

          Thank you for your reply !
          Allright. As of right now my time has become very limited and I will follow your advisce in 1 and 3, should my time give me some window so to speak to do so.
          I must admit that there is posibility, where I will not install it due to time limitations I am facing privatly and XP does all the work I need with never any problems. With GNULInux it is always this something that takes time more and the true production time is limited. This is in general speaking terms do not take it
          personally or against your Distribution as I know developers are focused on newer hardware. But not every one has money for newer hardware.
          I find Q4os very unique Distribution from what I see and wanted to test it and maybe I do on some newer PC if I get one. Should I install the newest version and the problem with the Monitor disapears I will let you all know. But as I say, it can take long time. So stay tuned.

    If it has an AMD Radeon Express 200 graphic chip, you may find the nomodeset or radeon.modeset=0 boot-parameter useful.

      Yes, helpful tip, it could solve the issue. Try to edit '/etc/modprobe.d/modesetting.conf' file and add the line:
      'options radeon modeset=0'

    I did respond like 3 times and see nothing on the forum. Is this being checked before posting?
