I have recently discovered Q4OS (1.8.7) and I'm very impressed by its practical approach. The work that went into simplifying and automating things has not gone unnoticed, and neither has the traditional desktop setup that gives Q4OS a great usability boost.
To admit my biases, I'm a great fan of old-fashioned desktop computers (no touchscreen), Windows XP and KDE3. Therefore I am feeling more at home in Q4OS than in any other Linux distro that I've tried in recent years. And I must say that if TDE weren't used, I probably wouldn't be posting this.
Finally, not wanting to waste your time with pointless drivel, I simply would like to contribute code to this excellent project as a C/C++ developer. My ideas for immediate improvements (if you agree) are the following:
Add a button for ttf-mscorefonts-installer.
Include Midnight Commander (mc).
Add "Terminal Sessions" applet to Panel.
Add "Desktop Preview & Pager" applet to Panel with 4 desktops.
Change clock style to digital.
Change date format to ISO YYYY-MM-DD and display it under the clock.
Tweak subtext color (gray doesn't contrast well with yellow).
That said I need some guidance as to where I should look (bugs reports?), including what online help resources I should bookmark (Qt reference?) in order to help most while asking least questions, such as "where exactly is the source code and is it under GPL?" Thank you.

Hi! My think Q4OS a very-very fine OS. I was 10-20 OS (linux, windows) tried in 2024. year, but Q4OS best stable, beauty, lightweight, and lite to windows users. THX and congrat... @mondomata

The CD image files both fail. 2 downloads, 2 computers, two burn programs. All abort the install saying "unable to read media files" Can someone give me a link to an CD image they know to be working? A link to WE or to SWISS would be great
