Example from Map map.276.4010.X093.xml - <loop> <id>2000D</id> <segment> <id>DMG</id> <name>Subscriber Demographic Information</name> <usage>S</usage> <req_des>O</req_des> <pos>040</pos> <syntax>P0102</syntax> ..... DMG segment becomes required when when the subscriber is the patient. Do we need to capture such requirements ? In plain translation one need not.If element is present we map it else we don't. But since the map also had usage and Req-Des as the properties of segments and elements, it got me thinking.
