Hi Alan, Thanks for the link. We are aware of the solution in matplotlib. In my opinion, however, we should not go in the direction of supporting some kind of fake TeX-like math typesetting. It will anyway look somehow ugly, at least if one does not go to the extreme of implementing Knuth's math typesetting algorithm to the last detail. Rather, I would like to see just plain text output, which in many cases would be enough for labeling of graphs.
