I've just tried it here, and it seems to work for me without any problems... do you have some sample code you could pass me so that I can see if the problem is related to your config or always happens? Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3784602 By: fabioz Well I agree that making the pydev parser recover from errors would be a nice thing, but it is also a difficult thing to do (that's why it's not implemented so far)... an 'easy' way to spot it would be in the problems view. Maybe showing the error in the outline would also help? (until there is better error-handling in the grammar). And looking from another perspective... if you don't have the file with the proper syntax, you won't be able to run the file anyway, so, it might help you catch those errors early ;-) Cheers, Fabio ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3784598 By: fabioz Hi Richard, 1. Good you were able to fix it ;-) 2. The fixes without code-analysis are something that are very unlikely to happen, mostly because the fixes are built upon the code-analysis. 3. It should be able to pick it if that folder is in the pythonpath. There is a bug in release 1.1.0 where the pythonpath was not updated if you changed it without pressing apply without any interpreter configured to clear the cache (already fixed for the next release). Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3784152 By: nobody Fresh install of Eclipse SDK 3.1.2, and then installed PyDev and PyDev extensions through the Eclipse updater. Java syntax highlighting works just fine, but after creating a Python project, giving it a source folder, and starting a module in that source folder, there is NO syntax highlighting. Code completion appears to work, but all of the text in the editor buffer is solid red. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3783803 By: sfamix The Twisted networking-framework comes with a 'manager', a frontend to launch Twisted applications, called 'twistd.py'. It takes care of many things (such as demonization) and acts as sort of a container around the Twisted application one wrote. The 'twistd' needs a '.tac' file, which is a Python script with that extension, and sort of a warm-up code to your actual application, containing basic default-preferences, some module definitions, entry functions, etc. The typical way to run such an application would be: python.exe twistd.py -y myApplication.tac I want to debug such an application. PyDev reports this string for the debugger: C:\Python24\python.exe -u C:\Python24\scripts\twistd.py -y E:\eclipse\plugins\org.python.pydev.debug_1.1.0\pysrc\pydevd.py --type python --client localhost --port 0 --file F:\workspace\HorNETserver\src\hornet\virtual.py I get a failure with this: C:\Python24\scripts\twistd.py: option --type not recognized So, somehow the twistd grabs the arguments for the python debugger and tries to evaluate them. Of course, this leads to an error. Any ideas anyone ? Thanks. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3782922 By: maddmike I run pydev on windows but save .py files to a linux server. When I try to run the .py files the file doesn't run because of a carriage return after the #!/usr/local/bin/python Is there any way to tell pydev to save files with out the carriage return? Thanks. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3781721 By: xyld You are right, of course, Fabio. I _hadn't_ configured my pythonpath correctly, though I thought I had. Just a suggestion -- perhaps some kind of warning could be generated somewhere when it _isn't_ using code analysis on a python file, with possible fixes? It's just that it is a case where it's not immediately obvious that it _isn't_ going, because you might assume there is nothing wrong with the code :) In fact when it did switch on, the only problems I had were import errors. One more question, somewhat related: some of the .so files aren't being picked up from my python path, in this case the lxml etree.so (installed in site-packages/lxml-1.0.1-py2.4-linux-i686.egg/lxml/etree.so). Is there any way to force that? Many thanks, Richard. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3780731 By: marvingreenberg This is something I have noticed too -- that is very annoying. As you mention, as soon as there is a (certain kind of) syntax error, outline view stops updating, code completion and related stuff stops working. But it can be difficult to figure what the cause of the error since nothing is updating. Often I'm cutting, pasting, mucking around with the code a bunch. Then I notice that completion isn't working and it can take a long time to figure out which line has bad indentation or too many close parens. This exhibits the problem for me: class Foo: def fn(self): # 5 spaces pass def bar(self): # 4 spaces pass ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3779817 By: xyld This isn't working for me either. To be honest I'm not sure I can even pinpoint how long it hasn't been working for! I can't remember it ever working since I purchased the extension. Code analysis doesn't seem to be working in: a) new projects with a new file, b) old projects, c) old projects with a new file. d) a completely fresh workbench with a new project and a new file. I've checked my settings, code analysis is definitely turned on, auto-build is on, auto-refresh is on. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. The debugger actually touches all the variables in the global scope, going into each attribute and getting its representation, so, what appears to be happening is that the debugger tries to get some variable it ends up doing some operation that will crash. Usually, this happens if something is designed as a property, for 'easy' acess instead of a method, so, as pydev cannot guess that it shouldn't touch that, when it does it crashes (because the design probably had something that has 'pre-requisites' for accessing it). Whenever I attempt to debug a module using a particular 3rd party package the debugger crashes. There is no problem if the file is run rather than debugged. I am using pydev 1.10 and python 2.4.2 on win xp. For example if I have a module which only imports the extension package e.g. from openeye.oechem import * The debugger will output pydev debugger Exception exceptions.AttributeError: "'NoneType' object has no attribute 'currentThread'" in If I actually use something from the package e.g. from openeye.oechem import * m = OEMol() A dialog will appear indicating: 'python.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.' The pydev debugger outputs: pydev debugger Exception exceptions.AttributeError: "'NoneType' object has no attribute 'currentThread'" in <bound method oeifstream.__del__ of <openeye.oechem.oeifstream; proxy of C++ OEPlatform::oeifstream instance at _20ea0102_p_OEPlatform__oeifstream>> ignored Does anyone have any idea what the problem is and whether there is a way to get around it? Well, I've had previous reports of that... I don't know why Eclipse does this sometimes, but the only solution so far seems to be unistalling previous versions and then installing again... check http://www.fabioz.com/pydev/manual_101_install.html Cheers, Fabio On 6/12/06, Andrew Corrigan <aco...@gm...> wrote: > > Yes, I tried restarting, but there's still no update available. Yes, I tried restarting, but there's still no update available. Also, after I unzipped the zip file over my eclipse folder it still says that I'm using 1.0.8. ----- Original Message ----- From: pyd...@li... Hi Andrew, Usually this happens because Eclipse keeps a cache of the updates... have you tried restarting Eclipse? I tried to update to pydev 1.1.0 via the update manager, but it says that no updates are available. I only have 1.0.8 installed. I just updated to 1.0.8 the same way recently (this morning), without any problems. I can use the zip file to manually update, but I thought it might be helpful to share this information in case it's not just me having the problem. |

Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3770105 By: alanfx Hey, I am having problems with the step into function of the debugger in my Jython project. When I click step into on a line with a function name, the debugger acts as if Step Over has been clicked. It does not matter if I have just imported the function in my code or imported a module. This same functionality works for me with PyDev version 1.0.6, but not with any version after that. I am trying to narrow the problem down, but so far I can't tell what is different about my code. Anybody seen this or have any ideas for how to fix this? Thanks, Alan Field ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
