Hi, =20 Since my last Eclipse update, SDK 3.2.1 and Pydev 1.2.4, I'm not able to open ".py" within Pydev editor mode. The Pydev is righly selected, but the Python file appears as a simple text file without any colorization (I suspect the text editor mode having the hand on the file). I've already checked file association.=20 =20 Thanks, =20 -- Daniel CAUNE Ubisoft Online Technology (514) 490 2040 ext. 3613 =20 |

Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3956324 By: fabioz Yeap, pydev only uses one interpreter for almost everything (the default one). The only exception is when you want to run you python module (so, you can use different interpreters for each run, but that's the only place where you can select the other interpreters). Cheers, Fabio ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3956166 By: crocodilek Hi :-) I did some searching and as far as I can tell there is no way to specify a couple of interpreters and select which one should be used for which project... Or am I wrong? The rationale behind switching interpreters is that I work in a company that creates Zope Products and unfortunatelly our products use many zope versions (some products are really old) and thus some use python 2.3, some 2.4 When switching from development of one product to another I often have to change the interpreter settings. That's not a very big hassle, but it can take some time ;-) I've read in this forums that I can use different workspaces with different products - I will have to try that... I'm sorry if this is not a good place for feature requests, but I really like PyDev and it would be really great if it could be even more helpful than it is now :-) Best regards and thank you for your great work Fabio, Maciek PS. Please excuse my poor English... ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3955138 By: fabioz There is currently no such option (what you can have is show the print margin at xx characters -- check the preferences: general > Editors > text editors). If you would like that automatically, you'd have to play with the org.python.pydev.editor.autoedit.PyAutoIndentStrategy class (that's actually in java). Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3955121 By: gmkrishn_uofc Is there a script out there which automatically wraps the code to say 80 columns. It should do the following * If I am currently typing in a comment and have gone beyond 80 columns, it should insert a new line, indent the appropriate number of spaces (found from context), a #. - This way I can just type in a 200 char comment, and would be automatically formatted to 80 char limit. * If I am currently typing in code and go beyond 80 chars, it should insert a new line at an appropriate location and indent appropriately a = f(a=1,b=4,c=6) should become (assuming 80 is replaced by a small number) a = f(a=1,b=4, c=6) Would appreciate any pointers regarding this. If such an option does not exist and it is easy to write one, any pointers to a similar code would be appreciated. While I know python, I have never written any scripts for PyDev (or even used Eclipse before) - Murali ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3953981 By: fabioz You can do that with templates, but you'd first do something like a template: 'encapsulate' and put variables in the template (check the testCase template for an example). Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3953957 By: gmkrishn_uofc Is there some feature to help writing getter and setter attribute code in Python. Specifically I am looking for something like varname<Key Sequence> results in ----------- def _get<varname>(self): return self.__<varname> def _set<varname>(self,value): self.<varname> = value varname = property(_get<varname>,_set<varname>, doc="The property <varname>") --------- This looks similar to code completion templates, excepts that it is parametrized by <varname>. Ofcourse here all occurences of <varname> in the generated code should be replaced with the word at which the cursor was when <KeySequence> was pressed. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3953416 By: padark Hi, I'm trying to use PyDev for some Django development. With an initial app, I get an 'unresolved import' error in eclipse for import lines like this: from django.db import models I know there is an existing (low priority) bug (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1430583&group_id=85796 &atid=577329) that states that nested modules aren't supported - so I followed the advice given in the forums and added django, django.db and django.db.models to the builtins - but still nothing worked. The django source is on the system and project pythonpath. Any ideas? ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3949111 By: fabioz Yes, it is supported. There is, however, a bug in pydev in which you cannot add breakpoints in files that are not in your project (when those files are opened as external editors) -- if that's not your case, please add a bug report. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3949078 By: wisordat I have an eval version of Pydev extensions. I was able to initially break using pydevd.settrace() The source files are found in eclipse but am unable to set break points from eclipse. Is this supported in the eval version? ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3948831 By: debedb If you develop, say, in Java in Eclipse, you can highlight a variable/expression, right-click and select "Display" (or Ctrl-Shift-D) to show its value. I can't find a similar functionality with PyDev; it would be nice. Is this expected? (A cruder workaroudn is to do "Watch" but that's not quite it). ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3943761 By: futnuh After watching the pyDev screencasts, I eagerly downloaded and installed eclipse. Unfortunately, when trying to use the update manager to install pyDev, I am getting the following error: http://www.edmstudio.com/personal/darran/06J02-pydev-install.png For the remote site, I choose "name: pydev" and "URL: http://pydev.sf.net/updates/". I'll go ahead and manually download/install the zip archive. Just thought I'd mention the problem ... Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3943498 By: fabioz There's currently a problem when posting to the pydev-code list from e-mails from gmail. So, the forum (http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=293649) should be used until that issue is solved. I've e-mailed some answers lately and it appears that they didn't make it, so, if you mailed something and didn't have an answer, please, re-post it to the specified forum. After updating to pydev extensions 1.2.4, I'm still getting error in two cases: 1- When a parent of the class (not the class itself) overrides __getattr__ . For example, in SQLObject, I get error on the 'q' method in my classes despite that the parent class 'SQLObject' override __getattr__ 2- Attributes of attributes of classes that overrides __getattr__ For example, if 'a' overrides __getattr__, pydev will not show error on 'a.b.c' despite that it will not show error on 'a.b' Regards, Magdy |

I clearly misread the debugger output, and I was looking in the incorrect file. The debugger was completely right :| ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3940165 By: l_connell I have same problem as well. I am running 1.2.4 pydev and eclipse 3.2. If i use "from mod1 import MyClass" or if i use "import mod1" and use "yo = mod1.MyClass" I get the following error in debugger which actually thinks my class is a different name. MyClass definately is defined in mod1.py within MyPack package as code completion works just fine as far as I can tell. #!/bin/python from mod1 import MyClass yo = MyClass() yo.Doh() ----------------- yo.Doh() File "C:\Documents and Settings\Lee Connell\workspace\Test\src\MyPack\mod1.py", line 12, in Doh clazz = MyClOass(self) NameError: global name 'MyClOass' is not defined ------------------ If I use "import mod1" and use "yo = MyClass()" I it doesn't know what MyClass is which it should. ------------------ File "C:\Documents and Settings\Lee Connell\workspace\Test\src\MyPack\__init__.py", line 5, in ? yo = MyClass() NameError: name 'MyClass' is not defined ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
