Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3966660 By: prkelly Sounds like your just unziping in the wrong location. You might be in a bit of a mess now if you've unzipped files in the wrong place - you may need to roll back your changes or start with a fresh Eclipse. You should simply end up with folders like this: /eclipse/features/org.python.pydev.feature_1.2.4 /eclipse/plugins/org.python.pydev_1.2.4 /eclipse/plugins/org.python.pydev.ast_1.2.4 /eclipse/plugins/org.python.pydev.core_1.2.4 /eclipse/plugins/org.python.pydev.debug_1.2.4 /eclipse/plugins/org.python.pydev.help_1.2.4 /eclipse/plugins/org.python.pydev.jython_1.2.4 /eclipse/plugins/org.python.pydev.parser_1.2.4 /eclipse/plugins/org.python.pydev.templates_1.2.4 ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3966647 By: samurai_mike2 That didn't work either.. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3966637 By: fabioz I think you have the wrong location... Try doing the following: Extract it to some other folder and then copy the files from the extracted /plugins folder to the eclipse/plugins folder (and the same for features). Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3966627 By: samurai_mike2 I tried both: com.python.pydev.extensions-1_2_4.zip and org.python.pydev.feature-1_2_4.zip I put them in: /usr/lib/eclipse/plugins and used unzip, it created the eclipse directory with the subdirectories... ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3966624 By: fabioz You shouldn't try adding it as an extension location... Just extracting it in the correct folders should be enough. Have you double checked the directory where the files were extracted? Are you installing the pydev open-source or open-source+extensions ? Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3966622 By: fabioz That happens after timing out for the connection with the server (that should be already started within Eclipse)... You have to check if you have some firewall enabled there (and if the client is already started) -- The port that the debugger uses is 5678. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3966371 By: samurai_mike2 eclipse 3.1.2 sdk, pydev 1.2.4 Yes, I looked at that page and in particular the section on downloading a zip file. I did the eclipse -clean . I try looking at the about and pluggins instruction and see a few with your name on them (3), but nothing like you mention of 5 with "com.python.pydev". etc. I try product configuration and add an extension location, but then it asks for the .eclipseextension file... " Selected location does not contain a product extension. An extension should consist of a directory named eclipse (which is there), which contains a marker file called .eclipseextension and the features and plugins folders (which are also there). Please select another location. " This is fc5. Thanks for attending this item so quickly. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3966365 By: surenreddy1 Yes, that was correct. I had to move the files under /usr/lib64/python2.4/site-packages for now until I figure out how to set the pythonpath. In the meanwhile, this is what I get now. I defined a function called eclipseDebugTester def eclipseDebugTester(): print "Setting Trace" import pydevd; pydevd.settrace('192.168.20.216') a = 1; b = 2; return a + b; When I call the http://192.168.20.216/python/src/root/myhandler.py/eclipseDebugTester, here is what I get. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3966314 By: fabioz Your pythonpath doesn't seem right if it is not finding the pydevd* files (so, make sure those files are contained within your pythonpath). Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3966172 By: fabioz What's the exact message it is giving? Which Pydev and Eclipse versions are you using? Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3966115 By: fabioz It isn't actually tested, but it should work. If you have any problems, you can report them to sort them out... still, the grammar it would use to validate your stuff would be the grammar for python 2.4, but as it should be backward-compatible, that shouldn't be such a big problem. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3966084 By: wegster Without asking why, because I have no choice on this one...can anyone tell me what versions, if any, are most appropriate for 1.5.2 development? As it is now, I generally write to 1.5.2, ignore the pylint warnings and such for deprecation, then wind up executing the code on a remote box manaully (one with a 1.5.2 interpreter) and adjust as need be..obviously, this isn't the ideal..I'd like to have PyDev use a 1.5.2 interpreter...any problems in doing this, or is there a specific version of PyDev and/or Eclipse I should use instead? ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3965931 By: surenreddy1 I am trying to evaluate the IDE and see if this helps us with remote debugging. We have a server that is linux based that has mod_python configured. We are using samba shares to see the code and develop on a windows XP box using the pydev extensions. I wanted to try out a really simple example to see how to set up the remote debugging aspect and I am not able to. test test/src test/src/root test/src/root/nested myhandler.py pydevd*.py form.html that calls the myhandler.py for its action method. when I submit on form.html this is the error I get to debug, the python script errors out with this code. Mod_python error: "PythonHandler mod_python.publisher" Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib64/python2.4/site-packages/mod_python/apache.py", line 299, in HandlerDispatch result = object(req) File "/usr/lib64/python2.4/site-packages/mod_python/publisher.py", line 136, in handler result = util.apply_fs_data(object, req.form, req=req) File "/usr/lib64/python2.4/site-packages/mod_python/util.py", line 361, in apply_fs_data return object(**args) File "/var/www/html/python/src/root/myhandler.py", line 8, in formHandler import pydevd; pydevd.settrace('192.168.20.216') ImportError: No module named pydevd As suggested, I copied all the pydev*.py files from the org.*.debug folder into the same folder as myhandler.py. Inspite of both being in the same folder, the pydevd does not get recognized. Any ideas? Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3965435 By: fabioz Well, yes, it is mostly related to eclipse... still, if you take a look at the console, there's a 'pin' button there that should do what you want. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3958804 By: wegster Ok, _mostly_ solved. For some reason, it's not spawning a second console tab, but I can select a different console view using the toolbar. Now, the question becomes, can I pin the 'other' console to stay there as _well_ as the normal stadout/console? Sorry, seems to be an Eclipse-ism vs a PyDev issue, I think..? ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3958794 By: wegster Ok, then I'm totally confused. I can build manually now (auto-build had been selected), but only have a single console tab open in the pydev perspective, which seems to only have the stdout/module output. Is there some way I can force an additional console open for pylint output? Or, optionally, a way to manually kick off pylint, including output to console? Max deltas for pylint is set high, at 9999, no difference. I know it's running at some point b/c it eventually updates the problems tab with warnings/errors, but I can't see the output. This has _got_ to be something simple I'm missing here...?? ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3958429 By: fabioz Actually, it should not be the same console that is cleared -- Eclipse will create a new one for your run -- the pylint console can still be selected in the console view (you just have to make it active again). Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3958419 By: wegster Yes it is. This is Eclipse 3.2.1 on Linux, latest PyDev + registered PyDev Extensions..not expecting that to make a difference, but to clarify :-) I can see the output scroll by and then the console is cleared when I go to execute a module that has changes made to it, but seems to be no way to not lose that output, to build the project manually via build menu, or retain/view the pylint output.. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3958245 By: wegster I'm not sure when this started, but it seems previously I was able to see pylint output in a console window. Currently, I'm unable to select 'Project/Build Project' to get pylint output only, so while pylint is running and updates the 'problems' tab, the actual output/code 'grading' etc only appears, and is cleared, whenever I run a python module. Any way to either allow building and thus pylint'ing of the current project, or force pylint to run manually within eclipse, or other suggestions? ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. In the file associations the 'Python Editor' is not marked as the > default. >=20 Yes, for some reasons the Python editor wasn't the default editor for Python files (weird?). I changed the setting in "Preferences...", and it rocks now. Thanks for your support. -- Daniel |
