The following forum message was posted by qu9542 at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4739830: Hi Fabio, That's great. I tried the new upgrade of PyDev 2.3 for about 1 hour (add "OpenGL" back to Forced Builtins), everything is OK. Problem is solved! Thanks a lot for your excellent work!! best regards & have a good weekend! Q |

The following forum message was posted by jdjodrey at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4884584: Thanks Fabio! looked at my environment variables, and the only one python related was PYTHONHOME, and that was set to C:\csvn\Python25. So I changed that to C:\Python32\ and I added an environment variable for PYTHONROOT and set that to the same value. It now seems to work! I must have had a some python directories laying around from an odd svn installation or something... Thanks again! |

The following forum message was posted by r_walter at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4885574: Hello, PyDev 2.3 introduced internally Jython 2.2.1. This version has a bug in the sorting routine. A fix existed but was never released in a Jython 2.2.2. The fix was obsolete with Jython 2.5. See this: http://bugs.jython.org/issue1835099# I guess no one included the bugfix given there for PyDev. Regards, Roland Walter. |

The following forum message was posted by fabioz at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4884584: Which PyDev version are you using? The problem seems to be that it's mixing Python 3.2.2 (which you said you're configuring) and Python 2.5 (where the error appears). I think this can happen if you have PYTHONROOT configured to Python 2.5 and are trying to execute Python 3.2 (because the docs say that the PYTHONROOT env will be added to the PYTHONPATH anyways, so, try closing eclipse, cleaning up your PYTHONROOT variable, restart Eclipse and see if it gets it right again). If it still doesn't work, please report back posting more details on your environment variables. Cheers, Fabio |

The following forum message was posted by jdjodrey at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4884584: Hi, This is my first email to this list, so I apologize if there's a better mailing-list for this type of question. I'm looking to get started with python development, so I downloaded Python 3.2.2 and PyDev IDE for Eclipse. When I go to configure my interpreter for a new python project, Windows gives me the following error: "python.exe has stopped working" and then Eclipse shows "Error getting info on interpreter "See error log for details. No output was in the standard output when trying to create the interpreter info. The error output contains:>>Fatal Python error: Py_Initialize: unable to load the file system codec File "C:\csvn\Python25\\lib\encodings\__init__.py", line 120 raise CodecRegistryError,\ ^ SyntaxError: invalid syntax This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. <<" Does anybody have any idea what this means or what I'm doing wrong? I've tried re-installing Python, but still can't get it to work. And again, if I'm in the wrong place, please direct me to the proper forum. |

Hi All, PyDev 2.3.0 has been released Details on PyDev: http://pydev.org Details on its development: http://pydev.blogspot.com Release Highlights: ------------------------------- * Pep8.py integrated (must be enabled in PyDev > Editor > Code Analysis > pep8.py). * Faster PyDev startup (internal Jython upgraded to version 2.2.1 -- and also optimized for PyDev). * Action to select/deselect scope (Shift+Alt+Up/Down). * Fix: cache issue where the PYTHONPATH in memory became different from the PYTHONPATH configured for a project. * Fix: OutOfMemoryError when dealing with PyOpenGL. * Fix: deadlock (could occur in a race condition when importing a project with an existing Python configuration). * Fix: code-completion integration issue with IPython 011 (patch from jonahkichwacoders). * Fix: annotation could remain in editor after removing a marker. * Fix: BadLocationException on extract local refactoring. What is PyDev? --------------------------- PyDev is a plugin that enables users to use Eclipse for Python, Jython and IronPython development -- making Eclipse a first class Python IDE -- It comes with many goodies such as code completion, syntax highlighting, syntax analysis, refactor, debug and many others. Hi, When I hit F3 to bring up a function edit, PyDev claims it cannot find the source if the function has a symbolic link in the path. Everything else works perfectly as it should, yet F3 claims the resource does not exist. I can get it to work by using a File >> New >> Folder and making a pseudo-link through that, but that has its own problems since it does not create a symbolic link in the file system. So, to get manual tests to work, I have to create the symbolic link as well. The problem with doing so is that when I try to debug, PyDev complains that I have two copies of the function in the workspace and for every F5, F6, or F8 I hit, I have to chose the non-linked one, a real PITA. Looks like I just reported two bugs here. Should I file them, or is there a workaround I should try first? ...Thanks, ...Ken |

Please get the nightly build and see if it works (the current nightly should be the final build -- see: http://pydev.blogspot.com/2011/12/preparing-for-pydev-230.html ) Cheers, Fabio |

I submitted a bug here: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3446052&group_id=85796&atid=577 329 And a stack overflow question here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8448330/eclipse-removing-entries-from-the-glo bal-easy-install-pth But still no clue about what to do and why is doing something like this. This problem has been around for a long time apparently, because for years we have been updating pydev and eclipse but this issue has always been there. It would be at least nice to know if someone else has the same problem, or if someone doesn't... Thanks, Andrea |

The following forum message was posted by qu9542 at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4739830: I got the exact same problem with pyOpenGL and PyDev in Eclipse. Ubuntu 10.04 64bit Eclipse Indigo + PyDev When I try to open "pyOpenGL" example py file @ http://pypi.python.org/pypi/PyOpenGL-Demo. Eclipse IDE hangs, and java is using 1.2GB of my memory, 100% CPU in 1~2 minutes. Then I got "gc overhead limit exceeded" and "out of memory" error. here is my eclipse.ini file: -------------------------- -startup plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.2.0.v20110502.jar --launcher.library plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.gtk.linux.x86_64_1.1.100.v20110505 -showsplash org.eclipse.platform --launcher.XXMaxPermSize 512m --launcher.defaultAction openFile -vmargs -XX:MaxPermSize=512m -Xms512m -Xmx1024m -------------------------- Q |

The following forum message was posted by at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4873177: I am using PyDev in Eclipse and migrating some source code for a Django project. However, Eclipse or the PyDev plugin (I don't know which) is displaying an 'X' on both some normal "folder' and "package" (the square with cross hair) icons, as well as a couple of Python source files. I wish that I knew what the error is about, so that I could make sure that my Eclipse environment is clean. I hate looking at these ERROR condition 'X's on my package explorer window. Kind regards, Marc |
