I suspect your problem is caused by the PyDev Pylint rules. (I had similar
problems.)

Try removing the rules defined by PyDev (Window -> Preferences -> PyDev -> Pylint
-> Arguments passed to Pylint). Pylint's default rules will then be used. You
can define your own rules later (when things are working).
