pydev displays icons for warnings and error on the left to the code (like the java editor), but how can I get to the info behind it? Neither hovering about the icon displays the warning/error message, nor is something written in the Tasks box.

There should be an entry in the Task list. Are your filters set correctly?

You can find this information on the Problems View. I don't think the hover has been implemented yet.
