No

If you install python 1.6.0 on eclipse 3.6 and configure python 3.1 you will not be able to debug.

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "C:\lib\aptana3\plugins\org.python.pydev.debug_1.6.0.2010071813\pysrc\pydevd.py", line 187, in <module>

Another user reported that switching to previous version solve the issue. See http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3326740/pydev-importerror-no-module-named-thread-debugging-no-longer-works-after-pydev

    This is already fixed in the current nightly (1.6.1). See: http://pydev.org/download.html for details on getting it.

    Note that you can just change that "import thread" locally (in org.python.pydev.debug/pysrc/pydevd.py) for:

    try:
    import thread
    except ImportError:
    import _thread as thread #Py3K changed it.

    Cheers,

    Fabio
