[Py2exe-users] how to handle non-python data files and hard coded paths

I'm maintaining a program which has a hard coded path to a binary data file.
When I run the python program as a script, the file is opened in a
sub-directory which is 2 levels below the main script.

However, when running as an exe, the data file cannot be found, because the
path to the data file no longer exists.

I do see the data file in the dist\library.zip file created by py2exe, but
the program is not able to access it.

I've looked at the documentation for py2exe regarding embedding data in the
exe, but I 'm not sure that is the way to g.

Any suggestions??
